Experience

I bring more than 25 years of experience in pharmaceutical and biotechnology R&D, combining scientific expertise with senior leadership experience across companies ranging from early-stage biotechnology ventures to global pharma.

I have held CSO, CTO and other senior scientific leadership roles at Athernal Bio, CureVac, Atriva Therapeutics, MRM Health and Ethris, with earlier experience at Pfizer. My work has spanned the development of new technology platforms, selection and progression of therapeutic candidates, preclinical and translational development, and clinical-stage programmes.

From platforms to therapeutic programmes

A recurring theme throughout my career has been taking emerging technologies and
determining how best to turn them into viable therapeutic programmes.

At CureVac, I established and led activities applying mRNA technology beyond vaccines, building programmes across multiple therapeutic areas and working with different approaches to RNA delivery.

My subsequent roles broadened this experience across respiratory mRNA therapeutics, microbiome-based medicines, antiviral small molecules and early-stage biotechnology platforms.

Scientific and organisational leadership

As a CSO and CTO, I have built and led scientific teams, established R&D strategies and development plans, managed external collaborations and helped companies prioritise programmes and resources.

My experience also includes working with boards and investors, supporting fundraising and licensing activities, evaluating external technologies and partners, and communicating complex scientific programmes to scientific and non-scientific audiences.

Breadth of therapeutic and technology experience

Therapeutic modalities:

mRNA and RNA therapeutics • Drug delivery and LNPs • Small molecules • Biologics •
Microbiome therapeutics

Therapeutic areas:

Rare disease • Infectious disease • Oncology • Liver disease • Respiratory disease •
Immunology • Regenerative medicine

This breadth allows me to look beyond an individual experiment or technology and consider how the scientific, translational and development pieces fit together.

Scientific track record

I am an author of 27 peer-reviewed scientific publications and an inventor on multiple patent families, reflecting work across RNA therapeutics, drug discovery, virology and other areas of therapeutic development.
