I am a scientist and biotechnology executive with more than 25 years of experience in pharmaceutical and biotech R&D. I now work independently with biotechnology companies that need experienced scientific leadership, strategic input or specialist support to move their technologies and therapeutic programmes forward.
I grew up in the Caribbean before returning to the UK, where I studied for my BSc at London South Bank University and DPhil in Biochemistry at the University of Oxford. A postdoctoral position at the University of California, Irvine took me to California, where I subsequently made the move from academia into the pharmaceutical industry.
Since then, my career has taken me through the UK, Switzerland, Belgium and Germany, working in organisations ranging from global pharma to early-stage biotechnology companies. I am now based near Munich and work with biotechnology companies internationally.
My experience spans fundamental research and drug discovery through platform development, preclinical and translational development, and clinical-stage programmes. Much of my career has involved emerging therapeutic technologies. At CureVac, I established and led activities applying mRNA technology beyond vaccines, including therapeutic programmes in rare disease, liver disease and other areas. Subsequent leadership roles have broadened that experience across respiratory mRNA, microbiome therapeutics, antiviral small molecules and early-stage
therapeutic platforms.
What I particularly enjoy is the point where promising science has to become a practical development programme: deciding what evidence is really needed, identifying the important gaps and risks, and making choices that reflect both the science and the realities of developing a medicine.
Today, I work through focused consulting projects, fractional leadership and advisory roles. I bring an independent perspective shaped by having worked across different technologies, therapeutic areas, companies and countries, while remaining, at heart, a scientist interested in how good ideas can be turned into better medicines.
